What do the artefacts found with otzi's body tell us about his society?
Otzi the Iceman was from a Neolithic culture implying his society had access to a variety of resources and materials more specifically copper and stone. One of Otzi’s last meals was a loaf of bread; this tells us that his society had the resources and tools to mix ingredients and the skills to create bread. We also learn that Otzi’s kind were very intelligent as although their resources were limited they used those resources to their full advantage, for e.g. using deer skin and grass netting to make a pair of shoes. Otzi’s tools and equipment consisted mostly of hunting gear, raw animal material and other weaponry tools meaning the Iceman’s society were mostly hunters or sheperds. |
